Palladium is a very precious metal that is 30 times rarer than gold. It is naturally a white metal that has the luster which is similar to the very well known precious metal platinum. It is stronger long lasting and durable. It is resistant to tarnish and intense heat. This is one of the members of the platinum group of metals (PGM). Palladium mines are very few and the locations of that are very few, with largest and most productive mines being in Bushveld Igneous Complex in the South African Transvaal, the Still water Complex in Montana, USA, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and the Norilisk Complex in Russia.
Palladium is also can be recycled from the scrapped catalytic converters, which converts most of the auto exhaust into less dangerous substances. It is most generally found in electrical goods like computers, televisions, mobile phones, electrical contacts multi-layer ceramic capacitors and component plating. Palladium is also used in making of a jeweler in which the advantage is that palladium is lighter. Since palladium being a malleable metal, stone setting was very easy. Palladium is also used in commercial goods such as dentistry, medicine, groundwater treatment and hydrogen purification.
